Founder's Picks - Part Three - Icon Fade Cobra Hoodie Cooler weather is right around the corner--and this hoodie is just what you need.
Hey Friend:

Sorry that I skipped a day of Founder's picks. My oldest two boys start school on Monday so I've been working hard this week to get that last hurrah of summer fun in.

My wife and I took the boys to the Carnegie Science Center yesterday with plans to go out for dinner and dessert in the evening. As I walked out the door I noticed a chill in the air and I grabbed a hoodie. That's when I decided to change up my Founder's Pick schedule. Originally I was going to review an awesome new Soundwave shirt, but the cool evening and back to school season inspired today's pick instead.

The hoodie I wore is a product with one of the longest titles we've ever used. It's the Icon Fade Activewear GI JOE Cobra Commander Premium Zippered Hooded Jacket. Here I am sporting it while going with a back-to-school theme of school lunches. Speaking of which, were you the kind of person who poured their drink into the lid/mug or did you drink straight from the spout? I remember doing both, but I'm pretty sure I was a majority spout slurper.

So on to the review. Much like the Cobra Kai Performance shirt I reviewed on Monday, this one really pops due to the shiny blackness of the performance fabric. Unlike the Cobra Kai shirt, which was silk screened, this is a sublimated design. That means the fabric started as white and then the design is printed on a huge sheet of paper and melted directly into the fabric. Then the fabric is cut and sewn together.

A cool thing about this is that we have these cut and sewn on demand here in the USA!!

We call this an Icon Fade design because it has the well-known Cobra logo (the Icon) and then we have a pattern that starts at the bottom and fades up to the logo. This way the logo still pops without distraction but the pattern looks really cool and makes it more than just a logo design.

I really love this jacket because it's super versatile. I like to use it as a jacket more than a hoodie, but it works either way. And it's not super thick like a sweatshirt. The polyester layer that the printing is dyed into is quite thin and has a flock backing, giving it just enough thickness to make it warm.

I use the jacket in the fall when I'm outside, in restaurants and movie theaters where they keep the AC cooler than I find comfortable, and I keep them in the office in the winter so I can wear a t-shirt without fear of getting too cold during the day.

The hood has an additional mesh lining to give it a more premium look as well as to add some extra warmth when you are using the hood.

I really like the fit. The zipper gives ultimate flexibility in terms of how much heat you want to trap, and unlike a traditional hoodie it doesn't bunch up at the bottom on me.

There's a GI Joe logo on the back but it's covered if you aren't wearing the hood up. Since this is a Cobra Hoodie we didn't want the GI JOE logo to be too obvious. After all, Cobra Commander isn't going around wearing GI JOE logos on his uniform!

Finally, the pockets are more for having a place to keep your hands warm than for holding much stuff. They are just deep enough to get your hands in, but not so deep to be safe to put a wallet or keys.

If you grew up on GI JOE I think you'd love this Icon Fade Premium Zippered Jacket!
