Angela’s ascent in the world of ice climbing has been anything but ordinary. Originally a fashion major, she left school when her student loans didn’t come through in 2008. That’s when she headed out on a new adventure: riding her bike solo for 1,400-miles from Michigan to Canada. Then another trip (this time off of her bike), to Colorado. Enter: ice climbing.

Despite her meteoric rise in ice climbing, Angela still doesn’t see her place in the sport as one backed by pressure. Instead, Angela climbs for the love of it. It’s not for the fame or to stamp her name on another first ascent. It’s the community that surrounds her and the places she gets to travel to do what she loves that keep her on the ice.
