What are dogs if not best friends? In honor of this totally real, and not at all preposterous holiday, we're presenting the definitive ranking of doggo-human duos of pop culture. Feel free to disagree, but just know you'd be wrong. 16. Peter and Brian These guys are the worst. They basically give themselves permission to out-awful each other. One's a dummy, the other is a nihilistic drunk. Meanwhile, what's Brian so upset about? He came back from being cancelled twice. If that doesn't spawn optimism, I don't know what does. 15. Pluto and Mickey What is the deal here? It's been said before, but Goofy is also a dog, except he has a job and a family. I feel like Pluto might be Mickey's kinky sidepiece? Why else would he have a collar on? Is Minnie in on this?
14. Sandy and Annie Annie is so busy singing about her good-for-nothing parents, she doesn't appreciate the family that's right under her nose. Also, where are Sandy's musical numbers? I want a song about Sandy! 13. Clifford and Mary Elizabeth Clifford is good natured enough, but Mary Elizabeth really brings this duo down. She's just so smug-- about the size of her dog, about learning, about having two names. Honestly, I just think that Clifford could do better. 12. Turner and Hooch This duo makes me nervous. Sure, Hooch ends up saving the day, but that sort of seems like a one time thing. There is nothing wrong with an organized police force. 11. Dorothy and Toto Toto just seems like an Emotional Support Animal that gets carried around in a quirky wicker basket. To be honest, I'm not sure Toto has much going on upstairs. Whenever he runs to lead Dorothy somewhere, it seems pretty coincidental. 10. Lassie and Timmy Listen, Lassie is an impressive pup. No one is debating that. Timmy is also fine. I just think they're overrated as a duo, especially since Timmy wasn't even Lassie's original companion. 9. Snoopy and Charlie Brown These guys had to make it to the top ten. They're classic! But ultimately, I think they're a pretty codependent pair. Neither of them are particularly happy, but maybe that's what makes them work as a duo. 8. Zero and Jack Skellington Being dead never looked so gosh darn classy. Also when Jack throws one of HIS OWN bones for Zero to fetch? Amazing. 7. Champion and Andy These guys are just nothing spectacular, we know. But oh wow are they lovable. Sometimes that's all you need from a pair of pals. 6. Steve and Blue These guys are a successful pair-- they solve a lot of mysteries. At the end of the day, they we're always Blue's clues, but Blue still let Steve have some of the glory. That's truly the sign of a good boy. 5. Airbud and Josh I know, who cares about Josh? He's got nothing to offer except his vanilla puddings. BUT AIRBUD THOUGH. He carries Josh all the way to the top. He's got the looks, the talent, and the loyalty. We're forever rooting for Airbud. 4. Rocky and Butkus Did you know that Butkus was Sylvester Stallone's real life dog? No wonder they had so much chemistry. Our love for an on-screen/off-screen romance brings these two to the number 4 spot. 3. Snowy and Tintin Now this is a true partnership. Snowy always knew who the bad guy was, and Tintin always provided Snowy with the appropriate equipment. Well-fitting equipment at that! No one rocks a tailored space suit like Snowy. Plus, without these two, we wouldn't know that Belgian dogs say, "Wooah," and that's just delightful. 2. Shaggy and Scooby-Doo These guys are made from each other. They are practically the only duo in the pop culture cannon, canine or otherwise, who are equally cowardly and heroic. Not to mention they understand the value of a good snack. 1. Doug and Porkchop Though the ups and downs of growing up, Porkchop is a constant. The two of them go on adventures as Quailman and Quaildog, but mostly Porkchop just hangs out at Doug's feet. They exemplify the quiet love between a boy and his best friend. They are the best. The End. Fight me. We knew you wouldn't disagree. Have a great weekend with your best friend! |
