Why Does My Piercing Hurt?

Why Does My Piercing Hurt?

Obviously piercings hurt! Whether it's the clamp pressing down in your skin; the needle pushing through your body; or just the sheer anxiety of getting a new mod, you're bound to experience some discomfort.

Once that piercing pain is done, you'll feel a sense of relief... It's when the piercing starts acting up a few weeks, months, or even years later that gives you a whole new sense of dread...

Piercing Tips for Minors (and Parents!)

Piercing Tips for Minors (and Parents!)

Getting pierced is self-expression at its best... And who is better at exemplifying the importance of self-expression than teenagers! Altering your appearance is a big part of finding yourself and discovering your unique sense of identity. Whether you're into it for the aesthetic, the rebellion, the friendship, or just for the fun, getting pierced is a great way to take ownership over your own body.

One caveat - by definition, anyone under the age of 18 is considered a minor...

The Tea with Alley

Today I'm answering some super common piercing-related questions that multiple Body Candy customers sent my way. I'm calling this one Top Piercing Questions Sent In By You because I'm hoping to answer a bunch of peoples' questions at once.

I hope y'all like this idea - if so, I'll do some more top questions themed videos in the future!

Today's Questions:

- "Can I wear body jewelry during an MRI?"

Quick answer: Yes! Well, most of the time. Although it's usually safe, we always recommend listening to your doctor or any medical professional during any medical procedure. If they say take out your jewelry, that's what we recommend!

- "Can I keep my belly ring during pregnancy?"

Quick answer: Yes! We even make special bioplast pregnancy belly ring retainers for just such an occasion. They can be trimmed to fit any baby bump for maximum comfort while your little one is growing inside of you.

- "Will my jewelry set off a metal detector?"

Quick answer: No! I just got done traveling (and let me assure you, I'm full of metal). None of my jewelry set off a metal detector, and none of my jewelry inside my suitcase was flagged as suspicious. If you're still feeling strange, opt for a bioplast retainer for comfy travel.

Dear Alley

Is it safe to get my navel repierced?

Dear Alley
Alley S.
BodyCandy's pierced pro & fashion forward diva
DEAR ALLEY: I’m a 23 year old first time mom who had her first child a year ago. While I was pregnant my belly piercing closed up on me in my third trimester. I was wondering it’s safe to get it re-pierced.

Sincerely,
- Dominique

ALLEY: Hi Dominique!

Congrats on your little one! I think I have some good news for you - lots of moms have belly rings! Just because your old belly piercing closed up doesn't mean you can't get pierced again...

Torn ear piercing - can I get it repierced?

DEAR ALLEY: Hi! I had my Tragus (ear) pierced years ago. I recently had it rip. My earring fell out and now I have a rip and I cannot wear anything there. Will that heal so that I can wear an earring in that piercing again?

If it will heal do you think I will need it pierced again? I have had it at least 20 years.

Thank you!!
Terri

What's a low pain level piercing?

DEAR ALLEY: I only have my first and second hole pierced and my belly pierced.

I want more piercings but my job won’t let me get anything on my face, so sadly, I can’t get my nose pierced. What’s a good piercing I should get that isn't that high on pain level?

- Savannah
