I wanted to talk a little bit about finding the right jewelry for your piercing, no matter what it is. I think there's a huge misconception that each piercing has it's very own specific jewelry... Actually, in most cases, jewelry is pretty universal! You might just be thinking about your jewelry in a preconceived way - i.e. that's a septum ring in your septum. I'm here to challenge you to be more creative with your piercings! Here's What's Up: - Gauge Size: This is the key factor in making sure your jewelry can have a universal fit. Gauge refers to the thickness of the jewelry in question - i.e. the width of the part of the jewelry that goes through your body. If you match up gauge sizes, you can move your jewelry anywhere. - Hoops: You can wear hoops ANYWHERE, as long as they are the correct gauge size! Try a hoop in an ear cartilage piercing, your nose piercings, your septum, or anything else you can think of. Size and personal anatomy is the only limitation! - Flat Back Studs: Depending on the bar length, these can be worn anywhere! They come in 1/4" and 5/16" sizes (cartilage vs. labret usually). Try them in different ear cartilage piercings, or even your nose. - Curved Barbells: these are commonly worn in eyebrow piercings, but I like to wear them in my tragus! I have also seen them in daith piercings. The options are infinite! |
