Sustainability at COS: 2022 update
This year for Earth Day, we take a moment to look back and share the things we’re proud of with our community
SUSTAINABILITY AT COS: 2022

Beyond a season, a trend, a moment, to a more sustainable world.

As we continue our journey to become a fully transparent, responsible brand, we want to share the whole story with you. To mark Earth Day, we're reviewing our environmental impact so far in 2022 to ensure we hit those all-important goals in the months to come...

PRODUCT
Beyond one season.

As of today, 92% of our materials are more sustainably sourced.

This includes organic, recycled and repurposed cotton, organic linen and hemp, Bloom Algae™, and Econyl® Regenerated Nylon.

What’s next? We continue to push for innovative alternatives like Bananatex®, made from naturally grown abacá banana plants, Desserto®, a plant-based alternative to leather, responsible down, and our 100% sustainably sourced cashmere collection.

PLANET
Beyond neutral.
We measured how much energy, water and C0₂ we saved by using better production methods compared to using more conventional ways in our 2019 denim collection.

We also introduced you to the material benchmark – a framework we’ve been using which helps us score each fabric based on their environmental impact.

Plus, over 95% of the electricity we source for our own operations is now renewable. Our ambition is to reach 100% by 2030.

What’s next? As well as denim, we’ll be measuring the environmental impact of making one of our most-loved signature styles: the COS T-shirt.

Earth Day 2022

To mark Earth Day, we caught up with actor and activist Finn Wittrock as he shares how he’s investing in the planet and the ways we can all make a difference.

We’ve been making progress here at COS too. Right now, over 95% of the electricity we source for our own operations is renewable. Our ambition is to reach 100% by 2030. Find out more about our climate mission in our new sustainability destination online.
