Push your business forward this Spring by being memorable with your customers
The question most smaller businesses have is how to remain top-of-mind when it comes to their customers. Understanding that most communication efforts get drowned out by the inundation of data and information, you need to do memorable things to hold people’s attention (half of you have probably abandoned this email by this second sentence… its true).
So, while I still have half of you here, let’s get to some ideas we have that will allow your brand to rise above the wave of communications your customers receive.
Consider non-digital communication channels
If your primary advertising method is online advertising, consider other outlets such as FSI’s, Radio or postcards. Vendors in this space need business, so you can negotiate down pricing on your initial tests, promising vendors future business if these tests are successful. These “older” channels are producing good results for those that apply them smartly.
Award customers for ReferralsThe cost of acquiring customers in most businesses is ever-increasing and those customers that are willing to bring others “into the tent” are immensely valuable. The value of the customer that is willing to refer someone that will be at least marginally profitable to the business is huge. Develop awards that are both valuable and public – if you gave a good customer a $100 gift certificate to your store, thank that person publicly so that they feel proud, and your customers know that you honor the value of these referrals.
Thank customers for ALL reviews - the good and the bad ones!
Actively engaging with expressive customers, and serving them with sensitivity is key. Customers hold most of the power in business relationships nowadays. While you may disagree with these more vocal customers, you should also publicly acquiesce since new customers will judge you on all of your reviews. Brands that flex more towards the wants of customers are the ones that customers continue to think of.
Involve and popularize customer input Incorporating customers into your brand at some level is key – personifying the brand through their interactions with your business brings life to the service you provide. So whether its testimonials or pictures of customers using your product or service, these moments are most powerful for converting prospects – display these publicly in your store (physical or online site) for all to see.
Here’s to you connecting more with your customers!
