Hey EmailTuna, Today, I want to talk about radiation. Will microwaving your foods give you radiation? Let’s discuss the two different types of radiation, ionizing and non-ionizing. Ionizing is deeper and can create DNA damage such as gamma rays, x-rays or even UV rays. Non-ionizing can disrupt bonds of molecules but not necessarily the atoms. So it doesn’t break the bonds, it just vibrates them which creates heat. This is how microwaves affect food. Because of this microwaves can lower the nutrient value in food.
