Hello,
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, design consultant Dan Formosa observed how doctors and nurses use masks, and what he found was deeply unsettling. Even one of the most protective masks, the N95 respirator, has serious design flaws that can expose medical workers to dangerous pathogens.
The good news: Masks could be improved, using design elements that are no more complicated than what you might find in a baby’s diaper. The question is whether manufacturers have any incentive to innovate.
