The balance of power between employers and employees hasn’t been this out of whack since the robber-baron era. But amid an assault on wages, benefits, and the dignity of a good job, workers are striking back.

There is more energy and organizing today from workers to improve their lot and reshape their workplaces for the better than there has been in a long time. Workers are using their collective power to challenge company leaders to do the right thing, from resisting dystopian algorithmic management schemes to advocating for more proactive climate action.

In this special package we’re calling The New Worker Moment, we profile its de facto leader, Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants, as well as explore six ways workers are seeking to take back power and showcase the American worker in a powerful photo portfolio shot in Bessemer, Alabama.

Ethereum rises: What you need to know
When it comes to cryptocurrencies, bitcoin has all the brand name recognition. But as far as year-to-date gains are concerned, the ethereum platform (and its ether cryptocurrency) has all the momentum at the moment.
Ether hit an all-time high of over $3,100 on Monday morning. That’s well below bitcoin’s current price of around $58,000. However, when looking at the two coins from a YTD return perspective, bitcoin is only up 95% while ether has surged 325% since its January 1 price.
One reason for the growth is a shift toward “DeFi,” or decentralized finance. As DeFi becomes more popular, ether stands to benefit greatly because most DeFi applications are built on top of the ethereum platform.
Earlier this year, Canada approved three ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs), lending credibility to the digital coin. With credibility comes investment.
