Despite weeks of social distancing (in many, though not all areas of the U.S.), the number of COVID-19 cases is continuing to accelerate. As worldwide cases reach over 800,000, the U.S. recorded 500 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours. New York, so far the hardest hit state, saw today its highest number of hospitalizations in a single day. Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose brother just got diagnosed with COVID-19, says that the peak of the outbreak in that state could be anywhere between one and three weeks from now.
