New York continues to see hundreds of COVID-19 deaths a day, but Governor Andrew Cuomo assured residents today that the curve of the epidemic is flattening, and “the worst is over.” Cuomo and five other state governors recently announced that they’re working on a reopening plan together, but no set dates were given. It’s no secret that President Trump also wants to reopen the economy as soon as possible, but this may be a mistake without widespread testing already in place. Meanwhile, Italy and Spain, two of the countries hit hardest by the virus, are slowly easing up on their strict quarantine rules. Whether or not they get a surge of rebound cases as the economy reopens will be good information for the U.S.
