The Covid-19 pandemic and the American economy are so intertwined right now that it’s impossible to talk about one without the other. The end of June brought both good and bad news: last month, the U.S. added almost 5 million jobs, and unemployment fell to 11%. That’s the good news. The bad news is that millions of Americans have still lost their jobs, and cases of Covid-19 are only continuing to increase. Even if President Trump hopes the virus will just “sort of disappear,” it’s clear that we need to make changes if we want to survive both the economy and the virus going forward.
