Despite (or in spite of) its unpopularity, I’ve always relished January. I use the time to reset my routine and to tackle some new hobbies. This year, I’m getting back into sketching—I picked up a set of Prismacolor coloring pencils, erasers that function like pencils or detailed erasing, and (best of all) this gorgeous electric sharpener. It’s small, gold, and has the option to be battery-operated, so I can easily carry it from dining table to bed when I want to cozy up with my journal (wrapped in my insanely soft Anthropologie faux fur blanket ). Another activity I’ve added to my plate: relearning how to play piano with the help of this space-friendly Casio keyboard. It’s lightweight and with the help of the Simply Piano. app, maybe I’ll be a maestro by the end of the season. A girl can dream.
