One of my fave podcasts, Pop Culture Happy Hour, has a segment every Friday in which my pals—er, the hosts—go around and share what’s making them happy, and it never fails to delight. To borrow the idea, I thought I’d speak to something that’s brought me joy this week, and has since I first discovered it during the early pandemic days: the Obé fitness app. I’m not a workout girlie, per se, but spending time (virtually) with this community of booty-shaking, effervescent trainers always lifts my spirits. Whether I’m doing a quick dance cardio session or listening to instructor Spencer J. (hi!) distract me from (good) squat pain while talking about pizza and singing riffs of Wicked, I always have fun–and that’s saying a lot from someone who generally dreads the gym. Anyway, to all the instructors in that glowing white box (IYKYN), this one’s for you.
