CanJam New York Standouts

As most of you know we spent last weekend in New York for the latest CanJam Headphone show. Andrew, Taron and Resolve Reviews were all there, getting the low-down on any exciting headphones being released and trying out recently released gear! Resolve broke down his standouts from the show in this wonderful article here https://www.headphones.com/blogs/news/canjam-new-york-2020-impressions .

We recommend giving it a read as there's lot of great information in there and Resolve interviewed quite a few manufacturers at the show which you'll be able to catch over on our youtube channel, The HEADPHONE Show here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt44wdefZzrhNDYYAyEy3Xg

Taron's Favourites from the Show

For me, there was a great mix of new products with some older products. I wish I had the chance to listen to more while I was at the show but there was some gear that immediately impressed and I'm still thinking about now, a week later.

HEDDphone

HEDDphone - One of the most hyped and talked about headphones released this year, I first heard the HEDDphone in our office a couple months ago and it was still an absolute standout at the show. The imagining and detail on the HEDDphone is just insane with one of the widest lateral soundstages I've ever heard in a headphone. You can check out Resolve's review of the HEDDphone here

Dan Clark Audio AEON 2 Closed

Dan Clark Audio AEON 2 Closed - Released just before the new year, the AEON 2 Closed (and AEON 2 Open) are very impressive. The original AEON Flow Closed took a lot of flack for sounding compressed and lacking dynamics but the AEON 2 Closed has absolutely fixed any of those issues. A nice, neutral sound signature with increased bass performance over the original AEON, a more comfortable fit and no issues with dynamics, the AEON 2 Closed is a noticeable improvement over the original Aeon Flow.

ZMF Verite Closed

ZMF VÉRITÉ Closed - If you aren't familiar with ZMF yet we definitely recommend familiarizing yourself with them. What Zach Merbach and his team at ZMF are doing is seriously cool and they are crafting some of the nicest looking headphones around. But looks don't equal good sound and let me say that the ZMF Vérité Closed sounds even better than it looks. I can see a lot of enthusiasts having a very tough time choosing between this and the Focal Stellia as their endgame closed-back headphone.

Honourable Mentions

iFi Audio Hip DAC - Newly released from iFi Audio, the Hip DAC is an excellent portable solution with a sleek design and enough power to please most headphones.

Final Audio A8000 - The A8000 is Final Audio's newest flagship in-ear headphone uses a beryllium diaphragm to deliver some of the finest detail you'll ever hear in an IEM. Final Audio has pivoted away from making super flashy products to making products that simply sound fantastic and these should definitely be on your radar.

Unique Melody MEST - The MEST is an IEM with 9 drivers that also utilizes bone conduction technology to produce a pretty unforgettable experience.

Empire Ears Valkyrie - Released late last year, the Empire Ears Valkyrie is simply put, a lot of fun. If you're into V-shaped sound signatures with plenty of low-end the Valkyrie is definitely one worth checking out. If you're a fan of the Campfire Audio Polaris, you'll love the Valkyrie.
