Netflix’s new documentary I’ve Got a Story to Tell recounts the origin part of Biggie Smalls’ story — a part often overlooked in favor of the West Coast feuds and his tragic death.

The film reminds us of the artist’s raw talent, as well as his undeniable status as a tastemaker. It only takes around 15 minutes for the COOGI sweater — a yarn piece produced by a once under-the-radar knitwear manufacturer in Australia that became the embodiment of Biggie’s style — to pop up in the doc. And that’s far from the only iconic piece on show. The BAPE hoodies, Timberland boots, Raiders merch…the list goes on.

Watching the documentary brings home the fact that Wallace’s enduring style is still relevant today. From pairing Versace shades with loud shirts to the signature wool Kangol cap, Biggie’s go-to wardrobe staples are ever-present.
