Introducing the HODINKEE Magazine, Volume 5
The storytelling runs deep in the HODINKEE Magazine, Volume 5. As we already know, watches can be heirlooms that connect family members across generations. The rusted-out Rolex Datejust on our cover, recovered from the remains of a 1952 plane crash, is one such watch. Worn by a pilot who flew covert missions for the CIA during the Cold Wore, our cover story tells the gripping tale of the recovery of the watch, and its return to the owner's nephew after nearly 70 years.  But this story is far from all that our fifth issue has in store.

Mario Carbone is a chef at the top of his game. The story of Carbone's mission to restore the venerable Italian-American table created and nurtured by early Italian immigrants and their descendants is already well-known to foodies. Virtually unknown is Carbone's passion for collecting and appreciating an unexpected spirit. It isn't aged Barolo, peated scotch, or rare bourbons that pique Mario's interest: It's rum. Stephen sat down with the chef for a spirited discussion on the topic and a rare invitation, which we extend to you, into the Carbone collection.
