THE SHORTS BRANDY WORE TO REINTRODUCE HERSELF
In April 2002, when actress and R&B singer Brandy decided everything was going to change, she grabbed these Levi’s® 518 cutoffs for her Vibe cover shoot. She’d just turned 23. Her coming-of-age sitcom, “Moesha,” had gone off the air a year earlier. Her third studio album, “Full Moon,” was dropping in April, just after the magazine hit newsstands.

The Levi’s® 518 Superlow was inspired by Levi’s® low-rise styles worn in Brazil. Stars like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Destiny’s Child lead singer Beyoncé Knowles were photographed in our hip-huggers. Brandy wanted to show she wasn’t an innocent girl anymore, but a full-grown woman with agency, sex appeal and some real pipes.
This was Brandy’s reintroduction. She wanted to make a statement. So she wore Levi’s®.
