MEET THE TALENTED ARTIST BEHIND OUR NEW SUPERMARKET-INSPIRED COLLECTION
When we first commissioned illustrator Joey Yu to design a small collection for us back in the middle of 2019 we had no idea how fitting the theme of it would become. Inspired by supermarket shelves, the seven piece capsule feels more relevant now than ever. |
FIRSTLY, HOW ARE YOU COPING IN THIS CRAZY TIME?
As well as I can in a time like this! It's completely uncharted territory so there's no right way of doing it but I'm trying to work as best I can, calling my friends on Facetime and Zoom, watching more films, writing more, generally taking each day as it comes. |

TALK US THROUGH THE COLLECTION'S THEME? I first thought it would be interesting to use everyday food products to elevate them in the way you'd typically do with florals or jewels. The theme has somehow become rather prophetic! Although I designed it a year ago, initially intending it to be a light-hearted idea, I think it's super-relevant now. Supermarkets are one of the only places we can go, and the objects and produce decorating it are the most essential things we need. |

HOW DID YOU SETTLE ON THE FINAL ACCESSORIES?
I really like the accessories we ended up with - playful in their shape and misdirection - a can of beans to keep your cards in, or a key chain with soy sauce. Now you can always have soy sauce in your bag! |
