Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Headphones
Building on a Beloved Series. Two decades after the Sennheiser HD 580 Jubilee was released, we saw an opportunity to make a new version—one that retained elements of the original while incorporating feedback from audio enthusiasts.
Visiting the Sennheiser Team. We spent a few days at Sennheiser’s headquarters in Germany. Along with getting an update on the headphones’ development, we took a tour of the facility and got to see aspects of the manufacturing process in person.
Testing Prototypes. After a couple rounds of prototypes, we found the latest sample from Sennheiser was far and away the best. These headphones were beginning to sound fantastic and measuring very close to what we had imagined.
Achieving the Right Sound. The Sennheiser engineers had a few tricks up their sleeves to help us get our desired sound. They actually tweaked the shape of the driver diaphragm in order to lower the resonant frequency, resulting in an extension of the bass.
