Anyone 21 or older can nominate a person in this promotion, but each nominee must be (a) at least 21 years old, (b) a legal resident of one (1) of the fifty (50) US or DC, Puerto Rico, or Canada (excl. QC) (“Territory”) and (c) the creator or founder of a social impact organization (“Org.”) that (i) is either (A) itself a U.S. legal entity that has received/maintains 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS throughout the entire contest (including, as applicable, the prize fulfillment process) or (B) U.S.-based and has a formal, written fiscal-sponsorship arrangement with another U.S. legal entity that has received/maintains 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS throughout the entire contest (including, as applicable, the prize fulfillment process) (“Fiscal Sponsor”), or (C) a Canadian legal entity that has received/maintains registered charity status with the Canada Revenue Agency throughout the entire contest (including, as applicable, the prize fulfillment process), (ii) is independent and autonomous (i.e., nominee must be its principal decision maker in management and development matters) and is not substantially supported by, or serving the purpose of promoting, religious or political organizations or beliefs (as determined by Sponsor in its discretion), (iii) is based in the Territory, and (iv) has a primary objective related to improving health, education, or esteem or to leadership development and benefiting low- and middle-income women and/or children in the Territory. Nominees judged on: impact of their Org. on low- to middle-income women and/or children in the Territory [35%]; whether their Org. has an innovative and entrepreneurial approach that addresses a challenge and its vision in a unique way and whether the Org. is also driven by its efforts to identify community needs, and, in response, build programming and services to affect those needs [30%]; whether their Org. is, as of the time of evaluation of the nominee, not widely known and positioned to leverage the funding and/or visibility provided should it win a Jaffe Award [10%]; whether their Org. can be expanded/replicated and applied to other locations [5%]; and whether their Org. leadership has the ability to create, advocate, and influence the Org.’s vision [20%].
