We asked Indian jewelry designer Alok Jain, what inspires his work. His answer is a reminder to never take love for granted.
I have been married to my wife for more than 20 years and my love for her only grows fonder by the day. My first collection of brooches was designed and made especially for her. She would pin them on the pallu, or draped end, of her sari. Now she has a matching brooch for all her special saris, which she proudly wears whenever we go to important events.
One day a few years ago, my wife all of a sudden developed pulse issues. After consulting with a doctor and undergoing several tests, we learned that she would require a pacemaker. I was so worried I stayed up all night just to make sure she was okay. We got the implant, a terrifying experience that I will never forget. But today, as we look back, we realize that it was because of our strong love for each other that we were able to overcome the trauma and difficult times.
At the end of the day, love always wins. We are so fortunate that we have each other by our sides to love and cherish every single moment. |
