Now, more than 20 years after joining Novica, my life has completely changed. I own a bigger workshop and employ fifteen helpers. My oldest daughter, Putu Gangga, studies at Udayana University, one of the most respected in Bali. My son, Kadek Satya, is a senior in high school. Because I joined Novica, I have paid for their educations. I now live in a house surrounded by nature. Every morning I wake up to birds singing, and a cold, clear wind that slowly wakes up all the green leaves.
I still make my sculptures while sitting on the floor because it comforts me, and it is how my father taught me when I was only eight years old. Now when the rainy season comes, I love making sculptures while listening to the sound of it on the roof. | | |
