Victoria Agyepomaa is one of those people who does not let circumstances determine her potential. “I did not receive much school education,” she admits, “but I don't allow that to limit me in life.”
Her career started simply, with cultivating decorative calabash gourds on her family’s plot of land in Ghana, but today her work has blossomed into an incredible collection of handcrafted art appreciated by customers worldwide.
When discussing her stunning masks, jewelry, and carved wooden seats, Victoria says she gets her inspiration from African traditions, but that it is her family that truly motivates her work and designs. In addition to her four biological children, Victoria also took over the care and financial support of her brother’s children after he passed away eight years ago. Today, she and her husband work hard to support their family of nine.
“My dream is to grow my business,” she says without skipping a beat, “to take care of my children."
This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating phenomenal women like Victoria Agyepomaa, for their talents, industriousness, and for the love they show their families every single day. |
