Sculptor and art director Marcilio Barroco is the man behind our Brazil region's flamboyant Carnaval masks. Drawing from his experience in theater and architecture, he explores the drama of human facial expressions through his art.

Marcilio believes that when someone puts on a mask, he is actually unmasking himself, as hidden aspects of his personality become visible. He also draws inspiration from the diversity of his native Brazil. “It is as if all of the masks of the world have passed through here,” says Marcilio.
