It’s the final countdown to New York Fashion Week, and we’re in the midst of preparing a store event with our friends Haley Nahman and Harling Ross from Man Repeller – and you’re invited! *
Tag along as we get together with the darling duo for a cosy catch-up downtown NYC, cherishing the calm before the sartorial storm.
What does NYFW mean to you, on a personal level?
Haley: It will always serve as a reminder that I got somewhere I didn’t think I’d get. The year before I landed a job at Man Repeller, I made it a goal to attend my first fashion show the following year. So, when I started going, I was astounded to be there. It felt so surprising and glamorous, and it still does.
What is your mindset when prepping outfits for NYFW?
Harling: I want my NYFW outfits to feel like a reflection of my best self, kind of like a sartorial manifestation. On a normal day, I don’t feel the need to strive for that level of satisfaction every time.
How do you stay warm, dry and true to your style, while running to and from shows?
Harling: This is my #1 dilemma, especially because it always seems to rain or snow during fashion week. This season I’m employing a new strategy: Just wear a big, cool coat. Whatever’s underneath doesn’t matter.
What are you hoping to see during this edition of NYFW?
Haley: I’m excited for designers to start and continue exploring what it means to dress a body, regardless of its gender.
How has living in NYC influenced your personal style?
Harling: Living in NYC makes me more comfortable taking risks but also gives me access to constant inspiration the moment I walk outside.
