I’m gonna be straight with you: I’m not a motorcycle guy. | | Sure, if I squint my eyes just right, I can picture myself sitting astride one of those imposing metal monsters, the open road stretching endlessly before me, nothing but my thoughts and the unyielding rumble of the engine for companionship… Who among us hasn’t been caught in a nasty traffic jam and watched with envy as an especially deft motorcyclist weaves through the morass, leaving the rest of us suckers in the dust? | | Despite even my most vivid daydreams, it sadly (or sensibly, if you ask my mom) wasn’t meant to be. Nonetheless, I was instantly attracted to our line of Moto Jackets. Sure, their story has an undeniable appeal—they’re inspired by a 45-year-old jacket that belongs to the father of our lead designer (and my close buddy) Nick Kemp, and they’re made right here in San Francisco in collaboration with the legendary Golden Bear Sportswear—but if I’m being honest, my interest was based almost exclusively on how badass they look. From the moment I tried one on, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. | | But, hey, I’m not a motorcycle guy, and this was very much a motorcycle jacket. It’s in the name! After much hemming and hawing, I started soliciting the opinions of the rest of the TS team—Taya, Jose, Carla, Emily. Could I pull this jacket off? Should I even try? | | I swear, I tried the Moto Jacket on at least a thousand times during the course of that week. Everyone wanted to see it, and everyone had an opinion. Straw polls were held. Results were contested. Voices were raised. At the end of it all, I felt like I had enough modeling experience to seriously consider a career change. Sadly (or sensibly), that wasn’t meant to be, either. | | But I did end up buying the jacket, and I absolutely do not regret it. I’m not a motorcycle guy, but I can appreciate an extraordinarily beautiful, heirloom-quality leather jacket. Plus, if the daydreams that occupy my mind when I’m stuck in snail’s pace traffic ever come true, I’ll be ready. | | All the best, Christopher Morben Senior Digital Designer | | |                               | | | | |
