SpaceX just successfully launched and deployed its first space internet satellites. Microsat-2a and Microsat-2b are just test satellites, but SpaceX ultimately wants to launch a fleet of 12,000 satellites to create a global internet service. The first operational satellites should launch in 2019.

In other news, The Verge's office internet was down most of the morning. We've been using MiFis, phone tethering, and mostly just suffering. Where's space internet when you need it?
