Philips Hue bulbs just got Bluetooth, so they don't need a hub now — which is good, because mine is taking up one of the very limited number of Ethernet ports I have available. What's less good is that obviously I'll have to buy new bulbs to take advantage of that, which means I'll probably be stuck with the old bulbs until they die sometime in like, a decade or so.

It's a weird thing with smart home tech — it lasts way longer than other devices, so updates are less meaningful. After all, how often are you going to replace your thermostat or light switches?
