I need some upbeat news. Winter is never ending; Facebook is a mess; and I don't know, you can probably think of something else bad that's going on. Happy news would be nice! So I looked around The Verge for good news, and here's what I have for you: a car dongle. The word dongle is funny, therefore this is happy news, even though car dongles are not something we want. I tried!!

Ford is making its own dongle now, called the FordPass SmartLink, which plugs into the OBD ports on model year 2010 to 2017 Ford cars that lack a modem. It adds an LTE hot spot, gives the driver access to information about the vehicle’s health, allows the car to be tracked, and makes it possible to do things like unlock or lock the car via a smartphone app.

See, happy news! Modern features for older cars. You just have to pay $17 per month plus installation or $204 a year. Could be worse!
