The time has come: signing for purchases you've made with a credit card is coming to an end in the US. Well, kind of. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express have killed the credit card signature, but some merchants can — and will — still require you to sign on the dotted line.

Big retailers like Walmart and Target will get rid of the signature requirement later this month, but some companies like Square, which powers payments for a large number of small businesses, will still ask for your John Hancock.

With credit card signatures going away, it's only a matter of time before everyone will forget how to write.
