F8 — Facebook's annual developer conference — starts today, and it's usually a pretty exciting time, where developers and tech fans alike get to see all the cool stuff that Facebook is working on.

But this year is a little different, with Facebook dedicating a lot of time to continuing to deal with the aftermath of the past year's news scandals and the Cambridge Analytica data breach instead of showing off shiny new apps and features for the future.

But the big question remains: can Facebook get anyone to trust it again?
