Apple lowered the price of its USB-C to Lightning cables yesterday from $25 down to $19, which is great. Well, it's actually not great. But seeing as Apple refuses to let anyone else make an official USB-C to Lightning cable, and the only way to fast charge new iPads and iPhones is with a USB-C to Lightning cable, it's at least nice to see that Apple is gouging people slightly less on them.

But it doesn't excuse the fact that Apple doesn't include one in the box with its phone, or let anyone else make one. Competition is good! And seeing as Apple doesn't offer laptops with USB Type-A ports, it's well past the time the company finally embraced USB-C as an option for its default option for cables, too.
