I recently had the fun experience of the GPS on my phone breaking, which led to the sobering realiziation of just how bad I am at basic navigation without the crutch that my smartphone has become.

It's weird because I know that I used to be able to get around on my own — I spent the better part of a year studying abroad without a phone with internet, and I did just fine (that one time trying to get to the waffle shop that led us on a hour-long excusion of the city limits notwithstanding).

But the march of technology moves on, and if sacrificing my ability to navigate on my own is the price of having the power of the internet in my pocket at all times, I guess that's worthwhile?
