After an extensive investigation, the EU has fined Google $5 billion over Android antitrust violations. It's a record-breaking amount of money, and Google is saying it's going to appeal the decision. Of course. It's also saying that it might have to start charging phone makers to include the OS on their devices.

What does this mean for us, though? It's not clear yet. Maybe prices of phones will go up if OEMs have to pay for Android. Maybe Google won't be as profitable in the future if its search app isn't automatically included on every Android phone. Maybe Bing is our mobile search future. That's a scary thought.
