Google finally unveiled its much-rumored game-streaming service today. It's called Stadia, and yes, the name is absolutely awful. But the service — at least, what Google is promising — sounds pretty impressive. Stadia is designed to stream demanding AAA games to phones, tablets, laptops, TVs, and basically any other screen you own, and Google says it can do that at up to 4K at 60 fps at launch, with plans to reach 8K and 120 fps in the future. Two big questions remain: price and games. Google didn't announce pricing (the service launches later this year), and we only know two supported games: Doom Eternal and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Whether that list can keep growing is as big a question as whether Stadia can really deliver a lag-free remote gaming experience. -Jake |
