Earlier this week I wrote that there’s nothing like a student show to renew your faith in fashion. That’s not exactly true. Spending a morning with a new CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund crew can be just as enlivening. The class of 2025, one of the Fund’s most diverse ever, impressed me and my fellow jurors on Wednesday with their commitment to creativity, their embrace of responsible and sustainable practices and materials, and their winning camaraderie. Laia Garcia-Furtado interviewed all 10 of the finalists. She says, “What feels different about this year is how many of the finalists have spent—and lived—multiple lives in the industry before being able to actually realize their dream to have their own brand. It debunks the idea that there’s only one path to success in the industry, although of course, they all converge at the Fashion Fund.” |
