Did Dwayne Johnson rock a sleeveless leather vest because the theme of last night’s party was “American Rodeo,” or because it was a Thursday? All that and much more revealed below. —Nick Catucci, site director
The charming Chris Black and Jason Stewart staked out the red carpet for quickie Q&As with some of the night’s biggest stars. Here are a few highlights—watch the interviews and Shaboozey’s performance in our livestream.
Dwayne Johnson’s workout advice: Sitting down for an interview in the GQ saloon, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, our very jacked Entertainer of the Year, said one of the keys to maintaining his physique is avoiding all the so-called experts in the social media “gains” community, and instead focusing on good ol’ fashioned hard work.
John Mulaney’s hair: Mulaney’s gorgeous head of hair was perfectly coifed, despite his claim that “I drove here in a Mazda Miata convertible at 90 miles an hour, while texting.”
Shaboozey’s hit: It’s the most unavoidable song of the year for good reason. Shaboozey—wearing his very own Man of the Year sash—brought the house down with his performance of “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Hannah Einbinder’s heckler: We would never heckle Hannah Einbinder, but after she tried a joke about ketamine therapy at a show in San Francisco, she told Black and Stewart, one man did, calling her a “bully.” The comedian says he had to be carried out of the venue.
Katt Williams’s grand entrance: Nobody enters a room quite like Katt Williams. When he pulled up to Men of the Year, it was only fitting that he was surrounded by denim-clad dancers. —Matthew Roberson
