Patrolling the world’s most dangerous beach, doing one thing that sucks everyday, how to lead a successful outdoor life, ergonomic oyster knives, and more…
Over the course of our 72 Hours in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, we cruised around Charleston to meet hometown hero Rodney Scott, the tireless entrepreneur Brooks Reitz, and badass waterman-slash-walking encyclopedia Cyrus Buffum, plus countless others forging their own path in the Palmetto State. Along the way, we put all our newest gear through the wringer—working up a sweat in a world-renowned BBQ pit, plucking oysters from the mud of a Revolutionary War battle field, and rollin’ in a vintage Land Rover that was so vintage, we had to push it for over an hour. Below we’ve rounded up a few MVPs from the trip, so pour yourself some spiked sweet tea and dive on in

In 1971, the Series III Land Rover introduced the first plastic radiator grill, which in previous series had been made of a metal mesh. The Australian market wasn’t thrilled, as they’d found a convenient dual-purpose for the mesh panel — as the perfect grilling surface over an open fire. 📍Charleston, SC     📷@jffmsmri
