Lifehack Feel like your brain is slowing down? Here's 50% of the reason why
Sometimes my colleagues will marvel at my uncanny ability to remember everything, stay amazingly organized, and be able to think of new ideas... all at the same time.
I have a dirty little secret, and it's that I don't actually do any of that. Rather, my brain is not the thing responsible for remembering and organizing everything for me!
A few years ago I was overwhelmed, trying to juggle the massive volume of tasks, appointments, conversations, responsibilities and the needs of my team on top of that. I was being pulled in a hundred different directions, all the while having the responsibility of thinking of new strategies and ideas for Lifehack.
The problem was that I was trying to keep everything in my mind, whether I knew it or not! The result is what I call brain clutter, which ironically led to forgetfulness, confusion and generally slow thinking. It was then that I realized that our brains are sometimes not so different from computers. Everyone who's used a PC knows that as clutter grows, it gets slower. Sometimes it's necessary for a reboot or a complete refresh.
Once I was able to cleanse my mind, the difference was amazing. I suddenly had incredible clarity and focus compared to before, and a huge boost in brain capacity to devote to thinking of new ideas. It re-awakened my creativity.
So when somebody tells me they're having trouble being creative, the first thing I teach them is a few exercises on how to empty their brain first. It works wonders.
This is something that can benefit everyone, and I'd like to share these articles with you today. They will show you practical ways to declutter your brain and actions that you can immediately implement in your life to instantly increase your brain capacity.
