This Weather is a Cruel Joke So, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the weather in New York (and the east coast in general, with the possible exception of Georgia and Florida) has been really, truly horrendous. As I write this on Friday, a bone-chilling rain that was supposed to be snow is covering the city. On the first day of spring, we had a snow storm, one that was so prolifically snowy that offices were closed and flights cancelled (I know this because I had one of those cancelled flights, and cursed the weather gods for the entire day). Even my mom, who wishes for snow accumulation over 10 inches every single day of winter, is tired of it. This is how bad it is. Instead of experiencing spring, I’m just going to read about it, and I’m going to start with our produce guide, which lays out everything you need to know about your favorite springy things. Then I’m going to move on to some roundups, like this one of my favorite veggie-laden pastas and this other one of super crispy, crunchy spring salads. And finally, I’m going to think about some adventures to take once the sun finally comes out. Winter may still be here, but I’m hopeful that spring is finally—finally—coming. —Katherine Whittaker, associate digital editor |
