One of my mom’s concerns for me always, when I was growing up—her friends who were gay were not in long-term relationships, and I think my mom just didn’t want me to be lonely. Then all of a sudden—to fall in love with someone who you could share your life with! The night marriage equality in New York passed, I looked at Lance and I said to him, “Well, let’s get married.” And he was like, “Absolutely.”
