It’s Met Gala Monday, which means Laird Borrelli-Persson spent part of her weekend at the Costume Institute, touring the new exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” with Andrew Bolton and guest curator Monica Miller. The show explores 300 years of Black style via 12 subthemes; as Miller put it, “once you know about it, you see Black dandyism everywhere and in different modes.” Black dandyism will indeed be much in evidence on the red carpet tonight at the “party of the year.” Laird and her Vogue Runway colleagues will be live-blogging the red carpet from the late afternoon until the last guest walks up the museum’s steps.
