From his debut show for Moschino last February, Adrian Appiolaza has been talking up the Italian brand’s archive. But very online fashion folks have known for years about the Argentinian designer’s vintage obsession, thanks to both his own social media account and the street style photographers who track his every new (old) outfit. Being one of those very online folks, Jose Criales-Unzueta interviewed Appiolaza and his partner Ryan Benacer about their stockpile of archival Margiela, Gaultier, Comme des Garçons, and much more. “I think when you create in my position, because I’m a collector and I love design from the past, it is definitely in my mind to do something that could live through time,” Appiolaza explains. “You want to make things that will feel special, as specialists; that in 20 years people will look at it and say, oh wow, that’s an interesting approach to design.” You’re definitely going to want to see these pictures! |
