One debut down, at least a dozen to go! It’s going to be a September to remember, that’s for certain, but Jonathan Anderson set a lofty bar with his opening salvo for Dior Men on Friday. In her review of the show, Sarah Mower wrote, “these are times when the stakes are high and the luxury market is more under fire than it has been for decades,” but “Anderson wasn’t fazed.” In fact, “the most convincing thing about the show was just how close-up and tangible he made it feel in reality.” Those of us watching from screens here in New York were entirely aligned. Laia loved the cargos: “They are absolutely unhinged and yet injected with REVERENCE for HISTORY!” Irene, for her part, was thinking ahead; if and when Gossip Girl gets rebooted for a third time, she’d like to “put all of the main characters in uniforms made by Anderson.” I suppose you could say we got a little unhinged ourselves live-blogging Anderson’s big day. If you liked it, stay tuned; if you missed it, please join us: We’ll be back online next Sunday for Michael Rider’s own launch outing at Celine. |
