Hey there, EmailTuna!

Hope you had a fantastic Easter! And how is it almost May? ๐ŸŒช

This week, your 3 Things are all Spring things! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

1. Are you planning a garden this year? ๐ŸŒฑ

Do you have a garden? Now that I’m finally a home owner, I’m getting into #alltheplants around the house as they add so much beauty! I like to sing to them as plants are alive and respond to positive stimuli just like the rest of us. ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also just secured two raised plots in a community garden and hope to grow some food. I am ALL EARS if you have any tips or tricks for this novice grower.

In that same spirit, we will be composting. If you are new to this practice, I’ve got a post for ya here: How to Start Composting (It’s Easier Than You Think!)

2. Spring cleanse? ๐Ÿฅ›

Spring is a great time to detox as symbolically the body is coming out of hibernation and ready for new life.

I’ve done various cleanses before, and this year I did the Milk Cleanse, which sounds pretty weird I know, but the results were fantastic! My bowels are so consistent and frequent ๐Ÿ˜† (but not too frequent if you know what I mean).

If you are looking for some gentle ways to cleanse the body:
  • Adding raw garlic to your salad dressing or pesto
  • Eating 2 tablespoons of raw pumpkin seeds
  • Dried out and crushed papaya seeds (sprinkle on your food as ground pepper)
  • Eat a combination of papaya seeds and raw honey (one study found this combination to be particularly helpful for parasites!)
  • Drink apple cider vinegar (or make your salad dressings with it!
  • Start your day with warm lemon water
  • Drink Pau D’Arco tea
  • Stay hydrated
You also can consider lifestyle practices like:
  • Dry brushing
  • Rebounding
  • Daily exercise
  • Sauna
  • Cold plunges
Reminder: Always check with your healthcare provider prior to any cleanse. Cleanses and detox are not recommended for pregnant or nursing mamas.

3. Are you up for the challenge? โŒ›

Have you heard about the 1000 hour challenge

Children in the U.S. are getting around 3 hours of screen time a day! WOW! To offset this, many families are shifting the focus to more time outdoors. Ginny Yurich, a mama of 5, started an inspirational goal of 1,000 hours outdoors (about 2 hours & 45 minutes a day) for her family. And it’s turned into a movement. This is especially impressive, since she lives in Michigan. ๐Ÿฅถ

Outdoor playtime is so beneficial for kids. โ˜€๏ธ Whether you’re walking the dog, playing tag, or just going on a nature walk, the great outdoors is so healing (mentally and physically).

God bless you and your family!

XO,
Genevieve
