Milan is heating up today with shows from Jil Sander, Roberto Cavalli (where designer Fausto Puglisi is doing a tribute to the house founder, who died earlier this year, I hear), and Etro. Yesterday, it was Kim Jones’s turn to honor the past; Fendi, the Italian label where he’s creative director, turns 100 this year, and the stars of the collection had a 1920s flapper-ish vibe. For those of you still catching up on London, don’t miss the latest episode of Vogue’s Run-through podcast, which features Chioma Nnadi interviewing Emilia Wickstead, as well as Mark Holgate and I on our earliest LFW memories. For me, it was the Hussein Chalayan show with the coffee table-turned-dress, circa fall 2000. Twenty-five years and hundreds (or is it thousands?) of runway shows later, I understand now how rare a collection that was. |
