Laird Borrelli-Persson weighs in today with her pre-fall 2025 trend report. She has plenty to say about the 13 trends she’s identified, but I wanted to know a little more, like, what she thinks is the most directional trend, and which one she’s eager to try out herself. She told me, “the pictorial aspects of fashion delight me, so I was drawn to the silhouette play this season—and not only for the visuals. It felt directional to me because in many cases functionality was linked to fashion. The idea that clothes need to work as well as look good is an important one. Of particular note was a white wool coat with ’80s proportions from MM6 Maison Margiela and the taffeta-look pouf-backed jackets at Armarium and Cecile Bahnsen. Also, part of my paycheck is surely heading toward the acquisition of a drawstring pouch.” |
