Do you hear that? Gmail has stopped pinging and Slack has gone slack. It’s the sound of fashion’s European contingent headed off on their summer holidays. August is a famously quiet month, but this August may be an exception—the Paris Fashion Week schedule was released yesterday, with the dates and times of no fewer than nine ready-to-wear debuts, Matthieu Blazy’s at Chanel the most anticipated of all of them. Presumably some of those designers will be enjoying “working vacations” this year. At 576 pages, Valentino, A Grand Italian Epic isn’t exactly a beach read, but it would be a worthy endeavor for anyone going on one of those reading retreat vacations we’ve been hearing about. |
